Vintage 1940s Royal Hickman Royal Haeger Duck Planter Gold Tweed Glaze~ Unmarked

Regular price $ 79.95

This is for the purchase of a single Unmarked Royal Hickman Duck Planter.  The item in photos is actual item being purchased.  I am not an expert on pottery but I pride myself on doing extensive research to ensure the information representing my pieces is as accurate as possible.  I reach out to collectors and authors for verification of information and if I receive contrasting information I go down a different path until I truly find facts supporting the artist.  I would ask you to look over the photos to ensure you are pleased before your purchase but feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like a photo from a different angle.
As in many early items of pottery there are pieces that go unmarked just like molds and forms that are utilized long after the artist is no longer making pottery.  I'm not saying this is the case here but having discussed with several local antique shops and doing my extensive research I am convinced this is early Royal Hickman Pottery.

Professional Background Information
Royal Hickman designed pottery, glass, silver, aluminum, furniture, lamps, and other items. From 1938 to 1944 and again from the 1950s to 1969, he worked for Haeger Potteries. Mr. Hickman operated his own pottery in Tampa, Florida, during the 1940s. He moved to California and worked for Vernon Potteries. The last years of his life he lived in Guadalajara, Mexico, and continued designing for Royal Haeger. The company is named Royal Hickman because Hickman's first name was Royal, not because it was approved by royalty.

> In 1938 design genius Royal Hickman joined the company to introduce an extraordinary line of artwork, called Royal Haeger.  Hickman's work was daringly intricate with smooth, flowing lines and highly original glazes.

Antiques and Art Around Florida-
In 1949, Royal Hickman, one of America’s leading ceramic designers, moved to Clearwater Beach from Chattanooga, Tennessee, planning on retirement. Hickman bought a boat, the Royal T, and soon found himself very bored. Hickman purchased some land on Nebraska Avenue in Tampa, near present day Fowler Avenue, and started Royal Hickman Limited. The Tampa plant, with thirty employees, produced some of Hickman’s best designs including flamingo flower holders, pelican wall pockets and ashtrays, vases in the form of shells and magnificent lamps. The pottery burned to the ground just before Christmas, 1952.
