This is for the purchase of 4 Vietnamese Lacquer Paintings with Mother of Pearl Inlay. Items in photos are actual items being purchased. Please message me if you have questions. I do a very good job of cross referencing sources to ensure the information I am putting on here is as accurate as possible. Based on these sources I have determined these to be authentic Vietnamese Art and NOT CHINESE IMITATIONS.
> Origination- This is too difficult to discover considering the vast areas of both North and South Vietnam. After looking at many images (too many) and trying to enlarge them to see detailing I'm going to go with original. The brush stokes and the amount of aged Mother of Pearl lend me to believe these are original and not imitations.
> Four panels representing a woman in all four seasons of Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter
> The detailing is incredible as different coloring from Mother of Pearl has been used for different features in panels
> Size- Approximately 7 5/8" wide x 18" tall x 3/8" thick
> Weight- Each weighs approximately 1 1/2 lbs for a total of 6 pounds (4 panels).
> Backs show order of panels 1 through 4
> When I found these panels, they were somewhat dark so I researched how to clean them. I chose not to clean them as I didn't want to take a chance on damaging each piece; however, I did take their suggestion and took a soft cloth and warm water, rinsed the cloth and wiped each panel. It made a big difference and I can only image what they will look like if the additional cleaning steps are taken.
> These panels have been well take care of except for a few minor marks but nothing detracting from the art. I reiterate, there are no loose or missing Mother of Pearl inlay on any of the panels. From my research, this is a rarity for these pieces of art that have some age to them as the Mother of Pearl can be 2mm or less in thickness and if it is not an original Vietnamese piece, the acceptable layers of lacquer may not be present and this will lead to the Mother of Pearl chipping.
> The lacquer with Mother of Pearl inlaid is a fine art in Vietnam. The Mother of Pearl usually has a shiny white color but under the sunlight, the aged Mother of Pearl carries the beautiful rainbow color. The pictures can actually change color depending on the light. Each painting is an exquisite piece of art.
